Quality And Functional Factors

Normal rendering Good support.
Clarity (high resolution) Fair to very good, assuming this is a typical configuration, used for compression, and it may or may not support interlaced video. The result depends on the version of Indeo used, the compression ratio and the encoder used.

IV50
See general list of FOURCC codes, possibly a number of others IV FOURCC. John McGowan claimsno that the IV32 was designed for the Indeo 3 as a whole; IV41 for Indeo 4 and IV50 for Indeo 5. FOURCC codes are no longer supported by Microsoft, which has developed a new mechanism for detecting media types in bold.

  • Let’s say I’m using VirtualDub to combine captured video clips from my camcorder and transcode them to AVI using a highly compressed codec such as H.264/x.264. I’m sure it will work fine on the PC I’m coding on, since it usually has a codec installed. Does the actual recipient need to install this codec on their computer?
